Sustainable Martian Technology Hackathon Two Weeks

The 2nd edition SMTH2026 pitch competition and hackathon takes place in two weeks at Concordia University on March 7th, 2026 🚀 This year, SMTH2026 is a joint collaboration with Space Concordia. We will be awarding two $500 prizes to the winning teams for best HardTech innovation and best Entrepreneurial Impact innovation, provided by our sponsors and partner organizations.

This event is open to all Canadian university students, CEGEP students, and early-stage startups made up of recent graduates!

The 2nd Edition of the Sustainable Martian Technology Hackathon is co-organized by The Mars Society of Canada and Space Concordia and takes place on March 7th, 2026 at the John Molson School of Business Conference Center, Concordia University in Montreal. This event will be open to advanced undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates. The Hackathon aims to build entrepreneurial skills by developing innovative dual-use technological solutions for both Earth and Space. Two $500 prizes are available for the top-two teams; rewards given by our sponsors and partner organizations.

We invite teams of 3 to 5 people to register. If you would like to participate and do not have a team yet, please visit the SMTH2026 webpage and send us a message in the “Get in Touch” section – we will find a team for you!

  • Space health and biotechnology for sustaining life in space

This year, we are delighted to have Maxime Goulet-Bourdon, Chief Operations Officer (COO) at Reaction Dynamics as a keynote speaker! Reaction Dynamics is Canada’s most advanced rocket company, with a suborbital space launch scheduled for 2026 and a first orbital launch scheduled for 2028. It is a great opportunity to meet Maxime and learn about Canada’s evolving launch capabilities!
